Könntest du dich vorstellen und uns sagen, woher du kommst, wie alt du bist, seit wann du in Deutschland bist und was du hier machst?
Ich bin Farhad Farzam. Ich bin 30 Jahre alt und lebe seit 2016 in Deutschland.
Was ist Deine allgemeine Meinung über die Europäische Union?
Die EU ist eine erfolgreiche zwischenstaatliche Organisation, die eine führende Rolle in der Welt spielt.
Glaubst Du, dass die Teilnahme an Wahlen einen Einfluss auf die politische Entscheidungsfindung hat?
Ja, das EU-Parlament – als eine der wichtigen Institutionen – ist an den meisten Entscheidungen in verschiedenen Politikbereichen der EU beteiligt. Das sind also die Bürger in Europa, die an den Wahlen teilnehmen und für ihre Kandidaten stimmen, die sie im Parlament vertreten können. Diese Parlamentarier können die politischen Entscheidungen auf EU-Ebene treffen oder beeinflussen.
Was sind Deiner Meinung nach die Vorteile der Europäischen Union aus politischer und persönlicher Sicht?
Nun, die EU bietet den Mitgliedstaaten und vor allem den europäischen Bürgern enorme Möglichkeiten wie Freizügigkeit, Handel und so weiter. Es gibt keine Grenzen mehr und die Menschen brauchen kein Visum, um in die EU zu reisen, und darüber hinaus gibt es eine enge Zusammenarbeit zwischen den Sicherheitsbehörden in den EU-Mitgliedsstaaten. Die Bürger können innerhalb der EU von einem Land in ein anderes Land ziehen und ohne Probleme und Einschränkungen arbeiten. Die EU ist ein unverzichtbares Instrument in den Fragen der Welt und engagiert sich in allen wichtigen Fragen der Welt.
Was sind Deiner Meinung nach die Probleme der Europäischen Union aus politischer und persönlicher Sicht?
Aus meiner Sicht funktioniert die EU wie erwartet und ich sehe kein Problem in der EU.
Stell Dir vor, Du würdest die Europäische Union für einen Tag regieren. Was würdest Du ändern, um die EU zu verbessern?
Derzeit dürfen Migranten nicht wählen – obwohl sie in der EU leben -, also würde ich das Recht ändern, damit sie auch an den Wahlen teilnehmen und für ihre Kandidaten stimmen können, weil sie auch Menschen sind und die Rechte haben.
Weißt Du, dass im Mai Wahlen zum Europäischen Parlament stattfinden?
Ja, das weiß ich.
Wenn Du an den Europawahlen teilnehmen könntest, würdest Du dann wählen? Und wenn ja, was wäre Deine Motivation zur Abstimmung?
Ich würde abstimmen, wenn ich bei den bevorstehenden Wahlen gesetzlich dazu berechtigt wäre. Ich würde für ein großes und wohlhabendes Europa stimmen, in dem die Menschen mit Würde und gegenseitigem Respekt zusammenleben.

Could you introduce yourself and tell us where you are from, how old you are, since when you are in Germany and what you are doing here?
I am Farhad Farzam. I am 30 years old and live in Germany since 2016.
What is your general opinion about the European Union?
The EU is a successful intergovernmental agency in which play a leading role in the world.
Do you think voting in elections has an impact on political decision making?
Yes. The EU parliament – as one of the important institutions – is engaged in most of the decisions in different policy areas in the EU. So this is the citizens in Europe that they attend in the elections and vote for their candidates who can represent them in the parliament. These parliamentarians can make or influence the political decisions at the EU level.
What are, in your opinion, the advantages of the European Union, from a political and a personal perspective?
Well, the EU provided the member states and most importantly the European citizens with tremendous opportunities such is free movement, trade and so on. There are no borders anymore and people don’t need for visas to travel in the EU and in addition, there is close cooperation in security sector among the security officials in the EU member states. The citizens are able to move from one country to other country in the EU and work without any problem or restrictions. The EU is a vital play in the world issues and is engaged in the every important issue of the world.
What are, in your opinion, the problems of the European Union, from a political and a personal perspective?
From my point of view, the EU is functioning well as expected and I don’t see any problem in the EU.
Imagine you would rule the European Union for one day. What would you change to improve the EU?
Currently, migrants are not allowed to vote- however, they live in the EU- so I would change the role so that they can also participate in the elections and vote for their candidates because they are also humans and have the rights.
Do you know that there are elections for the European Parliament in May?
Yes I know.
If you could vote in the European elections, would you vote? And if so, what would be your motivation to vote?
I would vote, if I was able and legally allowed to vote in the upcoming elections. I would vote for great and prosperous Europe where people live with dignity and mutual respect together.
